Following the cancellation of this year’s ISME Skills Competition we were concerned that Students who had produced test pieces for the competition would be disappointed so ISME Events Officer, Adrian Nicklin offered to visit colleges to judge test pieces on site.
On the 16th June Adrian accompanied by ISME Secretary Bill Pinfold visited the Royal Leamington Spa Campus of the Warwick College Group. Four test pieces were measured and accompanying written reports read. The judges were impressed by the standard of the work pieces and the quality of the written work.
A prize for the best test piece and written work was awarded to Ben Phillips, a trainee of Whale Tankers.
After the presentation the ISME judges were given a tour of the very impressive training facilities at Leamington Spa with shops for sheet metal, welding, assembly, machining, car maintenance and electric vehicles
